Dish TV brings a smile to under-privileged girls

Aparajita, an initiative of Dish TV to help the girl child, organized a 2-day free health check-up camp on 12th & 13th Sep, 2014 for the underprivileged girl children of Wazirpur slum area, New Delhi.

On the 1st day of the camp, Doctors from HCL Avitas in collaboration with Dish TV actively participated in the general check-up which included checking of height, weight, hemoglobin, pulse rate, vision tests etc. Those children who were deficient in calcium and iron and with flu symptoms were provided with free medication.

On the 2nd day of the camp, team Aparajita showed a movie to the children on personal hygiene and explained the importance of cleanliness. Children were then encouraged to participate in a debate competition on the topic “personal hygiene & health” and the winners were later awarded with prizes.  In order to give a practical approach to the same, each girl child was given a Dettol soap and was taught the method of hand wash as a crucial lesson in personal hygiene.

After that, the team infused some fun into the environment by organizing various games, followed by snacks for all.

At the end, the team distributed donation items which were contributed by the employees and the families of Dish TV like clothes, stationary material, shoes etc.
