Dr. Subhash Chandra, Chairman, Essel Group & ZEEL attends the Forbes 400 Summit on Philanthropy

Dr. Subhash Chandra, Chairman, Essel Group & ZEEL attended the Forbes 400 Summit on Philanthropy which was held in New York City on June 17th, 2014. The summit witnessed attendance from nearly 200 of the world's leading philanthropists, social entrepreneurs and public officials including Warren Buffett, Malala Yousafzai, Laurene Powell Jobs, Chuck Feeney, Paul Tudor Jones, Jim Breyer, Michael Milken, Denis O' Brien, Stephen A. Schwarzman and Jeff Skoll.

The key sessions at the summit included 'The Urgency of Educating Women and Girls' where Malala Yousafzai, Co-Founder, Malala Fund was interviewed by Laurene Powell Jobs, Founder and Chair, Emerson Collective and 'Disruptive Philanthropy: Five Bold Ideas' where five panellists presented their ideas for restoring the US educational system to greatness.

The delegates then divided into problem-solving working groups to brainstorm with social disruptors, with the goal of solving their most pressing business problems, accelerating their progress and promoting models that can scale worldwide. The discussions centred on the Malala Fund which aims to bring education to every girl in the world, the Khan academy which wants to provide world-class education to anyone, anywhere and the New Orleans school system which is attempting a turnaround.

In the evening session, Warren Buffett presented Chuck Feeney, Founder of The Atlantic Philanthropies, with the Forbes 400 Lifetime Achievement Award for Philanthropy while ForbesWoman President and Publisher Moira Forbes gave Wendy Kopp, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Teach for All, and Founder and Chair of Teach for America, the Forbes 400 Lifetime Achievement Award for Social Entrepreneurship.
