Essel Infra bags 20 MW Solar Power Project in Maharashtra

Essel Infraprojects has recently won the 20 MW Solar Power Project under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) Phase I Batch II. There was a stiff bidding competition that saw 230 bidders including many multinationals in the fray. Essel Infraproject's bid was one of the most competitive bids.

On 27th January 2012, NVVN (NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam) signed the power purchase agreement with Essel MP Energy Limited (an SPV fully owned by EsselInfraprojects) for the duration of 25 years. The project in sun rich Osmanabad district is scheduled to start generating electricity from end February 2013.  On completion, the project will be generating 36 million units which will be purchased by NVVN at the rate of INR 9.27 per unit.

Given the current power scenario in India, this venture heralds Essel Infra's entry into the power sector which is growing exponentially.
