Essel Infraprojects Limited wins yet another Golden Peacock Award: The Golden Peacock Eco-Innovation Award
With the addition of the prestigious Golden Peacock Eco-Innovation Award 2016, Essel Infraprojects Limited (EIL) has added yet another feather to its well-adorned cap! This recognition comes in lieu of our smart Waste-to-Energy plant in Jabalpur that aids the disposal of municipal solid waste (MSW) and generates 11.5 MW of energy through waste conversion. Golden Peacock Awards are a benchmark of corporate excellence worldwide and this is the second recognition we have received from this esteemed body this year.
EIL was awarded the Golden Peacock Eco-Innovation Award at the 18th World Congress on Environment Management, which was hosted in New Delhi on July 8, 2016. The award comes in quick succession to the Golden Peacock Innovative Product Award 2016 for Intelligent Grid with Smart Metering Solution, which we received earlier this year.
Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon'ble Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & Renewable Energy, Government of India handed over the award to Mr. Harshad Joshi, Business Head - Environment, Essel Infraprojects Limited, among a distinguished gathering comprising business leaders, academics, boardroom professionals and policy makers.
The award is recognition of the best-in-class process we have set up at our Jabalpur MSW plant to conserve our environment. The winners were selected by a jury, led by Justice M N Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice, Supreme Court of India.

About our Jabalpur waste-to-energy plant
The Jabalpur waste-to-energy plant is operating at European standards and saves about 4.4 hectares of land by just processing 2,19,000 tons of municipal solid waste annually in Jabalpur city. It generates 11.5 MW energy which is equivalent to powering 18,000 households. Generally one ton of solid waste emits two tons of CO2 and this plant resulted in an overall reduction of 4,38,000 tons of CO2 annually.
