Mount Litera Zee School pays tribute to the Legacy of Sardar Patel
Organises a 'Run for Unity' across the country in his Memory« Back
In response the Prime Minister's message to observe 31st of October as National Integration Day across the country, the students of the 80 Mount Litera Zee Schools across the country organized a Unity Run in their respective regions between the 31st October to the 10th of November in memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Sardar Patel, the Iron Man of India played a major role in uniting the various princely states of India to form one diverse and united nation. It is in his memory that the 31st of October henceforth would be celebrated as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwasâ€ or National Integration Day across the country.
Mount Litera Zee Schools acroos the country celebrated this day by having a special presentation on the life and work of Sardar Patel. Some schools had a once act play on the life of the great man while others organized a special screening of 'Sardar', a movie on his life. Post these activities, students organized a 'Unity Run' where in they invited people from all walks of life to come together and run as one. The events across the country saw many known personalities participate in the event the most prominent being the Maharaja of Nagpur. The event was also supported by the various local police departments.
"Very few students today are aware of the contribution of Sardar Patel in the union of the various kingdoms into the newly formed country. This initiative helped us educate children on the magnanimity of his contribution in a fun and unique way. The initiative also helped students appreciate the values of religious tolerance and national integration" said the Principal of Mount Litera Zee School, Karnal
"With so many states, religions and languages, India is a country of many smaller countries which makes it imperative that children today understand, appreciate and propagate the value of national integration and inclusive society" said a parent of Mount Litera Zee School, Indore.
"I really enjoyed learning about Sardar Patel and his importance in our freedom struggle. His efforts have ensured that we are today one diverse and united country which is appreciable. If India is to become a world leader, it is important that we remain united and progressive" said a Grade 9 student of Mount Litera Zee School, Alwar
Mount Litera Zee School has always focused on connecting with the local community through various community driven initiatives like healthy heart, i-care programme for prevention of child abuse, world peace day and driving environmental consciousness in the community amongst many other initiatives. This is in line with their philosophy of creating socially responsible citizens for the 21st century.
