Mumbai claims the Maharasthra Derby!

In the 2nd round of the I-league Mumbai beat Pune 2-0 and rise to the 2nd spot on the table.

Mumbai started with the same squad as in the last match and started attacking from the word go. Taking control of the game Mumbai won a corner kick in the 15th Minute. New recruit Nicholas Rodrigues curled to the far post and Sampathkumar Kutty Mani breached the Pune goal with his header. Mumbai lead 1-0.

Chances came fast and thick

The Pune custodian was kept busy for the rest of the first half by Mumbai FC strikers Ebi Sukore and Ezeh Herny but they were always found to be second best. On the other hand against the run of play Pune forward attempted shot and Keeper Nidhin Lal pulled off a brilliant save.

The lead doubles

5 Minutes in the second half and Mumbai got their second as Gurjinder Singh found the back of his own net. But the credit cannot be taken away from the Mumbai forwards as they kept on attacking and doubled the lead deservedly.

The match ended as it began, on a high tempo. Mumbai always looked to score with waves of attacks from the wings with wingers and full backs on fire. The match ended 2-0 and Mumbai come away with 3 points.

Mumbai are now only 2nd to Salgaocar SC on goal difference. Mumbai will take on the new bees HAL in the next round at Kolhapur on 13th December, 3.30pm.
