Mumbai FC beat Air India at I-League

Striker Henry Ezeh's goal helped Mumbai FC win the local derby match 1-0 against Air India in the round 14 tie of the I-league at the Sahu Maharaj ground Kolhapur on Sunday. Mumbai FC struck early on in the 6th minute of the game with Ezeh finding the back of the net after getting a pass from S Kutty Mani from the right flank. Mumbai FC managed the first double of the season as they had earlier beaten Air India in the 1st round.

It was the start of the second phase and a very important game for both the teams to get back to winning ways. Both the teams attacked form the word go. Mumbai FC got the early breakthrough in the 6th minute as a neatly crafted move from the right saw Mumbai FC scoring one of the best goals of the season. The Final ball came from the gifted right foot of winger S Kutty Mani, which was received well in the box and slotted past the Air India custodian by Ezeh Henry.

Henry scored the 3rd of the season and gave Mumbai FC all three. An early lead meant that Air India had to play catch up throughout the game and that's how it was till the final whistle.
Air India didn't score any goals but they manage to put some pressure on the Mumbai FC boys as they created chances but were unlucky that they couldn't get the ball into the post.
Air India's Samson Singh issed a golden opportunity to equalize in the 20th minute of the game but he missed the post by a whisker.

While after a 1-0 lead at half time it was Mumbai FC defenders who did a pretty good job of keeping the airmen strikers at bay in the second half. Mumbai FC's midfielder Dane Pereira and their striker Th. Bungo Singh did come close to increasing the lead in the second half but were not successful in their attempts.
Air India failed to breach the Mumbai FC defense in the second half as well. Mumbai FC's defender Evans Quao was adjudged the man of the match for his splendid job at the defense. Manager Henry Picardo was really happy that the team registered a win and he is happy that the team will get the needed break as they play HAL Bangalore in the last week of February.

"I think that Air India also played very well as they were constantly putting pressure on us. But then the chances that came their way they were unable to capitalize on them. I am happy that we are inching closer to the league leaders and with this win we have 24 points are placed fifth and stay in the top half of the points table," added Picardo.
Cheers to Mumbai FC!!!
