Mumbai FC completes 15 day grass root program

Mumbai FC recently completed its grass root level project Mumbai FC Soccer Clinic on 29th April 11. The Program was a 15 day basic program conducted in association with Don Bosco Summer Camp at Borivali.

The camp received overwhelming response from the kids as more than 110 kids participated from age group of 8 to 16. There were also 7 girls who made it to the ground every morning geared to get trained. The enthusiastic participants were not disappointed when they turned up as they received training from the ex internationals Naushad Moosa (Mumbai FC Youth team coach and Course Director) and Henry Picardo (Manager and Course Co coordinator).

The training covered basics like passing, dribbling, shooting and game play. The coaches also managed to take the training to the next level when the touched upon team building, game play, coordination and formation.

The coaching team consisted of Subroto Bhattacharya, Luke Rozario and Kimbly Miranda who are well experienced coaches at the grass root level. Henry Picardo said, "The support staff that we had for the clinic was excellent and they worked really well with the kids. This is very important as there needs to be a bond between the players and coaches which I feel these guys developed as the program progressed."

Mukul Choudhari (General Manager) wants to continue this program and not limit it to a mere summer camp. Mukul said, "We have received a phenomenal response in terms of numbers and the feedback from kids and parents. It was a great thing to see that at 6:30am all the kids turned up ready to learn and some of them also accompanied by their parents to see them play. We are already receiving requests from parents and school faculty to make it a year round activity."

Mumbai FC plan to roll out Soccer Centers in Borivali and are in process of tying up with schools for the program. Mukul continued, "It will be a year round program which can be school specific as we look to up the standard of football at school level with the Mumbai FC way of coaching."
