Mumbai FC finishes as the Runner-Up of the I-league U20 Tournament 2011-12

Vashi, Navi Mumbai (I-League Group Stage)

Mumbai FC started their I-league campaign against HAL Bangalore by beating them 1-0. Chirag United came as the second hurdle for Mumbai FC and they won it convincingly by 3-0. The 3rd match, a derby between archrivals Air India and Mumbai FC was won 2 – 0 by the later. The last match was between two big teams in U-20 I-League Pune FC v/s Mumbai FC though leading in 1st half Mumbai FC gave a though fight but it lost 3-2.

Mumbai FC finished on the 2nd place in the group Stage below Pune FC.

6 teams were qualified for the Final Stage Pune FC and Mumbai FC being from (Mumbai). Shillong Lajong and Prayag United from Kalyani. Dempo Football club and Churchill brothers from Goa.

Kalyani, West Bengal (Final Stage)

Mumbai FC played their 1st match in Final stage against Shillong Lajong which the team 3-2. Mumbai FC then beat Prayag United in the 2nd match 3-1. Jayesh Rane scoring Hat trick for the Team.

The 3rd Match saw two top teams from Maharashtra Pune FC v/s Mumbai FC which was won by Pune FC 4-0. The loss against Pune FC pushed Mumbai FC in 2nd place on the table. In the last 2 matches it was one sided affair as Mumbai FC beat Dempo FC and Churchill Brothers 7-1 and 5-1 respectively.

Jayesh Rane scored 4 goals against Dempo FC and 2 goals against Churchill brothers which took his goals tally to 13 goals making him Top Goal Scorer in the I-League U-20 Tournament.
