Mumbai FC rope in Ambrose to coach Under-17 team

Former Indian and Maharashtra player Alex Ambrose has been appointed coach of the Mumbai FC Under-17 team, which will participate in MDFA organized tournaments.

Ambrose, who also represented Mumbai FC from 2007 to 2011, is an AFC 'C' license coach and also a Graduate Coach of the Manchester United Soccer Schools. He coached at Manchester United Soccer Schools in India and UK.

"I am really excited to be back at Mumbai FC although as a coach and not a player. It's a new venture and I am looking forward to succeed as a Mumbai FC coach," said Ambrose, who had donned the Indian jersey from 1998 to 2004.

The 32-year-old Ambrose pointed out that he wants to mould the youngsters into top class players who would fit into the club's scheme of things. "I plan to follow the club philosophy with the under-17 team. I am very familiar with it. I want to put forth my own ideas and bring more value out of the young players. Ultimately the main aim is to develop players so that they can play for the senior team and win major trophies."
