Mumbai FC thrash Central Railways 5-0

Mumbai show their might once again as they thrash Central Railways 5-0 in an MDFA Elite Division match at Cooperage Football Stadium, Mumbai.

Brazilian striker Josimar Da Silva Martins led the charge with two superb goals, while Sampat Kuttimani, Allan Dias and Pradeep Mohanraj chipped in with one each to complete Mumbai FC's seventh win on the trot.

After taking a slender 1-0 half-time lead through Kuttimani's goal, Mumbai FC came into their own in the second half and scored four times during this period to knock the fight out of their opponents, who tried their best to offer some opposition. Just before the half-time whistle, Central Railway's hard-working medio Krishna Naidu had a brilliant long range attempt but Mumbai FC goalkeeper Sanjiran Ghosh proved equal to the task, diving full length to his left and fist the ball over for an abortive corner.

After switching ends Mumbai FC repeatedly raided the rival territory and scored at regular intervals. In the 52nd minute Dias tapped in a cross from the left and substitute Josimar scored the third with a brilliant headed effort in the 88th minute. In the next minute Josimar put Mohanraj in the clear and the latter blasted home from close before Josimar complete the winning tally with another fine effort in injury time.

After the game we caught up with one of Mumbai's latest signings Meldon Silva who started his first game. "I felt really good to have started. Due to my illness I missed out on football for almost a month. Now I have to work harder and get more fitter and fight to keep the place. With the likes of Kali and Justin there`s a lot of competition in the squad."

Full Time score at the Cooperage: Mumbai FC 5 (Kuttimani 23` Allan Dias 52` Josimar 88`, 90+4` Pradeep Mohanraj 89`) beat Central Railways 0
