Veria, the first wellness TV channel launches in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region

Viewers in the region are about to embark upon a journey that will ultimately be the guide to wellness in their lives. The bouquet of diverse Western shows, subtitled in Arabic, is what shapes this niche channel that reaches out to the mass audience, creating the one-stop source of entertainment and inspiration. Zee Network, the largest Indian media broadcaster announced the launch of the vibrant channel which presents a cherry-picked selection of shows that centre around health and wellness. Veria is another addition to the evolving medley of channels by Zee, catering to its growing viewers. Launched on May 4th 2014, Veria is accessible to audiences in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Veria is the first free-to-air channel of its kind to offer viewers with a healthier outlook to life. Providing a unique wellness and lifestyle platform, the channel centres around four primary pillars: wellbeing, nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle. The programs range from healthy recipes and cooking, prenatal health, exercise and fitness training to beauty, travel tips, thereby providing a medium to discuss a multitude of matters relevant to the Arab world.

There has been a noticeable prevalence of Diabetes across the GCC region; this is a result of people's preferences towards leading a more sedentary lifestyle. Over the last few years, the younger generation managed to develop an understanding of the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle; leading them to give up their old habits and take on a more active lifestyle. Statistics indicate that an estimate 85% of UAE residents and 75% of Saudi Arabian have become more interested in maintaining and improving their overall health and wellbeing.
