Z Living's original series Altar'd has been nominated for a 2017 Realscreen Award in the Best Lifestyle, Health & Well Being Series category. Nominations were announced by Realscreen on Tuesday, April 11, with other finalists including Animal Planet's "Monsters Inside Me" and OWN's "SuperSoul Sunday."
Now in its 19th year, the winter Realscreen Summit is the definitive global market and conference for the business of unscripted and non-fiction entertainment, with June's California-based Realscreen West remaining a must-attend event for content creators, distributors, agents, commissioners and multi-platform broadcasters of unscripted and factual entertainment programming. Award winners will be announced June 7 at the Realscreen Awards ceremony - which pays tribute to outstanding content from around the world - during Realscreen West, taking place in Santa Monica from June 6-8.
Altar'd, which premiered on Z Living January 17, captures the journeys of six couples, engaged to be married, that are determined to lose weight and adopt healthy lifestyles before their weddings.
Said Z Living General Manager and CEO, Rafe Oller, "Altar'd epitomizes Z Living's mission to create compelling, optimistic and fun programming dedicated to all facets of healthy living, including lifestyle, relationships, fitness and more. We're honored that this series not only resonated with our audience, but is also being recognized by Realscreen and the global television industry as a whole."
Altar'd kicked off Z Living's first original primetime programming block earlier this year, chronicling future brides and grooms who three months prior to their nuptials are paired with acclaimed fitness trainers Chris Marhefka and Erin Stutland to lose weight in order to start their lives together healthier and happier. However, in a twist that none of the participants see coming, the couples are separated, unable to see each other for the entire 90 days until they are reunited for an emotional reveal at the altar.
Altar'd is produced by Bodega Pictures. Josh Ackerman and Benjamin Nurick are executive producers. Tim Krubsack serves as executive producer for Z Living.
