Zee 24 Taas Ananya Sanman 2010 - Honoring the extraordinary

Zee 24 Taas, the first 24-hour Marathi news channel of India, took great pride in felicitating the real heroes of Maharashtra through its unique platform 'Zee 24 Taas Ananya Sanman', which not only gives due recognition to the un-sung heroes who have considerably contributed in their sphere of work but also gives an encouragement to many other people to follow the suit. These are the people who have done great deal of work in their fields but still go un-recognized.

Zee 24 Taas Ananya Sanman 2010 has gone one step ahead in finding such people who represent the real Maharashtra which lies in villages, which still needs the basic infrastructure like schools and which is still gripped in old customs.

This edition of 'Sanman' was an attempt to make people aware of such facts and work together to make a better Maharashtra.

The third year of Ananya Sanman was also a continued effort for carrying forward the tradition of 'Sanman' and honoring the extraordinary. There were seven different categories that had been chosen and 9 unsung heroes from respective fields were honored. These were;

Mr. Sandeep Desai from Education (He has been collecting the money in local trains in Mumbai for building a school in Mumbai),
Mr. Sitaram Kumbhar from Theatre (An artists who rings bell at the start of any show, has been serving the field for more than 30 years)
Mr. Anant Shelke from Sports (A Kabaddi coach who have coached Asian Games gold medalist and also ex-Captain of Women's Kabaddi Team)
Mr. Anand Tukaram Suryavanshi for Bravery (A Govt. employee turned farmer, got 70% handicapped due to an accident on the job)
Mr. Kishore Kawale for Bravery (A police constable and a member of Bomb Detection & Diffusal Squad, lost his right hand while diffusing a bomb in naxalite area, Gadchiroli)
Mr. Tanaji Patil from Social Service (An activist against the old custom of Jogva in western Maharashtra)
Mr. Eknath Dagdu Awad from Social Service (An actvist (son of a beggar) fighting for Dalit Rights)
Mr. Ganesh Madhukar Deshmukh from Farming (A peon turned farmer, supporting other farmers in the village to increase productivity)
Mr. Bahu Katdhare for Environment (Runs an NGO Sahayadri Nisarg Mitra Mandal for nature conservation in Konkan region)

The recipients of these honors were felicitated by personalities like; Smita Talwarkar, Shaina NC, Bharatkumar Raut, Kiran More, Anjali Bhagwat, Ex-Air Marshal B.N. Gokhale and Barun Das, CEO - Zee News Ltd.

Beside these 9 awardees in un-sung categories, there was also a life time achievement honor to a legendary person given to the veteran actress of Marathi and Hindi cinema Ms. Sulochana Devi (A Maharashtra Bhushan Awardee, has worked in more than 250 Marathi Films, epitomizing on screen mother).

Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh - Cabinet Minister for Rural Development, was the Chief Guest of the evening, who alongwith Shri. Subhash Chandra, Chairman-Essel Group, presented the life time achievement honor to Sulochanaji.

Zee 24 Taas Ananya Sanman 2010 held on 4th February 2011, 7 p.m. at Y.B Chavan Auditorium, Nariman Point, Mumbai witnessed the presence of celebrities, dignitaries and audience of the channel in vast numbers.

Zee 24 Taas Ananya Sanman was hosted in association with Loksatta, powered by Tata Indicom. LIC of India, Karbonn Mobiles and Zankar Educational CDs were the associate sponsors for the evening.
