Zee 24 Taas Ananya Sanman 2013 - "Honouring the Real Heroes of Maharashtra"

Zee 24 Taas, the first 24-hour Marathi news channel of India, took great pride in felicitating the real heroes of Maharashtra through its unique platform "Zee 24 Taas Ananya Sanman", which not only gives due recognition to the un-sung heroes who have considerably contributed in their sphere of work but also gives an encouragement to many other people to follow the suit. These are the people who have done great deal of work in their fields but still go un-recognized and stayed away from limelight.

Zee 24 Taas Ananya Sanman has really re-defined the way recognition is given, by giving it to people who deserves it most. It started in the year 2008 with a sincere effort to honor the un-sung heroes from various fields who have done in-comparable work in their respective sphere. With each year it became a bigger & better platform to recognize these ordinary people with extraordinary work.

The event held on 11th January in Mumbai witnessed the presence of eminent personalities & veterans of fields in which felicitation was given.

Zee 24 Taas Ananya Sanman 2013, in its 6th year, highlighted this extra-ordinary effort of ordinary people and carried forward the tradition of "Sanman. There are seven different categories in Ananya Sanman is given, these were;

Hiraman Ingole for Education; belongs to Mangrulpir in Washim washed cups to start a school for indigent children. He was felicitated by Sunil Prabhu (Mayor-Mumbai) & Dr. G.D Yadav Vice Chancellor (Institute of Chemical Technology)

Jagadish Khare for Bravery; fishes out bodies of suicide victims from the Gandhisagar lake in Nagpur and dissuades people from committing suicide in it.

He was felicitated by Sadanand Date (Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mumbai)

Sampatrao Pawar for Environment; belongs to Khanapur in Sangli, who did yeoman service in water conservation and even constructed a dam from public participation, was commended for his work in the field of environment. He was felicitated by Sandeep Waslekar (Director- Foresight Group) & Sunil Tatkare (Minister for Water Resources)

Hrishikesh Dhane for Farming; For cynics who argue that agriculture is a dying profession, may force a re-think. The young man from Padali in Satara left a cushy job to motivate farmers to take up organic farming and began a laboratory to test soil and water samples of agriculturists. He was felicitated by Na. Dho. Mahanor (Agricultural Expert and Poet) & Balasaheb Thorat (Minister for Revenue)

Shree Jeevan Jyot Bachatgat for Social Service; Shattering generations of taboos and obscurantism around reproductive health of women, Rupa Kanose & and the members of self-help group in Akkalkot in Solapur, started a sanitary napkin unit.

The group was felicitated by Anil Avachat (Senior Social Activist) & Harshwardhan Patil (Minister for Parliamentary affairs)

Rajesh Jadhav for Sports; A real life version of Shahrukh Khan from 'Chak De India' who trains village girls in cricket in a small village 80 Km away from Ratnagiri, has produced the captain for Maharashtra's Women's Cricket team.

He was felicitated by Kiran More (Former Cricket Player) & Vinod Tavde (Leader-Opposition)

Ramansingh Patil for Entertainment; From a small village called Shelvad in Jalgaon. Without any support from the government he has created a drama school. He has been running this company since years and all the actors in this drama company are farmers. He was felicitated by Rohini Hattangadi (Veteran Actress) & Suresh Shetty (Minister for Health)

'Shivashahir' Babasaheb Purandare, known for bringing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's history to the masses through seminal works like 'Raja Shivachatrapati' and the 'Janata Raja' play and his wife Smt. Nirmalatai Purandare, who is associated with organisations which train balwadi (playschool) teachers who teach rural children, were given lifetime achievement awards.

"These are examples of people rising above adversity and creating something," said NCP chief and union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar, who gave away the award to Babasaheb Purandare, adding that people needed to be made aware of this positivity to motivate the younger generation and to ensure India's betterment.

"This award is not just important for Marathi news channels, but for the people of Maharashtra," said Alok Agrawal, CEO, Zee Media Corp Ltd, adding that they would continue to stand by those who did such good work.
