Zee 24 Taas' show 'Rokthok' wins award at News Television Awards 2014 for Best News Debate in Marathi
Zee 24 Taas got an award in the Best News Debate Show category in the News Television Awards 2014 held on 29th March at New Delhi.
The program 'Rokhthok,' a prime time debate show on 24 Taas aired at 21.00 hrs (Mon-Fri) anchored by chief editor Dr. Uday Nirgudkar.
It aired a special debate on Mumbai's famous Lalbaug Ganpati Pandal manhandling devotees in a very odd manner during Ganesh festival 2013. The episode produced by Amol Joshi was titled 'Shradhechya Bhandwalachi Mujori' and was telecast live on 16th September, 2013 from 9pm to 10 pm.
The exclusive video showing a member of Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh Pandal allegedly shoving away women devotees went viral on social media websites, evoking sharp reactions. Taking this issue, Zee 24 Taas did a special on it in the debate show to raise awareness about it as a social issue. The intention behind the show was not to hurt religious sentiments but to be aware about the situation and be prepared for the festival as a grand event, considering crowd management during those 11 days. It was an eye opener to the concerned authorities to not forget the basic intention of the festival which is to unite people and preserve our culture.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Uday Nirgudkar said We are very happy that a balanced & research driven program got such recognition"
