Zee Cafe will telecast Miss World 2008 live from Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday, December 13 at 8:30 pm (IST). Zee Cafe has the exclusive telecast rights of the property, making it the only television channel to telecast Miss World '08 in India. This year, catch stunning beauties representing 108 countries across the world vie for the much-coveted Miss World 2008 crown.
Launched in 1951, Miss World is the original and most popular beauty pageant in the world. Each year young women from every country compete in front of over a billion television viewers. The contestants go through rounds such as the Most Beautiful Smile, the Swimsuit round, Miss Talented and the Question and Answer round. Judges determine which contestant has the winning combination of beauty, glamour, poise and intelligence - all the ingredients needed to be crowned Miss World.
Parvathy Omanakuttan, a Mumbai-based Keralite, all of 21 years is India's latest ambassador of beauty at Miss World this year. Parvathy is a vision behold, standing tall at 5 feet 9 inches. A student of English literature from Mithibai College, Mumbai, Parvathy loves to read. Her picture-perfect figure isn't the work of hours spent at the gym but a product of pursuing sports such as basketball and badminton. As an outlet to her creativity, she paints on glass and is trained in Indian classical dance.
When asked about her preparations for the Miss World pageant in Johannesburg, South Africa, Parvathy said, "Femina Miss India World is not merely a crown of joy. With the crown, the responsibility of upholding the name of the country has also fallen on my shoulders. The preparations started ever since I won the contest. Apart from just concentrating on my appearance, I am trying to be a stronger person to face the contest. I'll try my level best to make every Indian all over the world proud."
Parvathy indeed has big shoes to fill given that she must carry on a legacy of Indian beauty and substance left behind by phenomenal achievers such Reita Faria(1966), Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999) and Priyanka Chopra (2000), who have brought immense pride to India at the pageant. To catch the Miss World 2008 action Live, tune into Zee Cafe on December 13 at 8:30 pm.
