Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman: Recognizing real Punjabi heroes

Organized at a glittering function held at Hotel J.W. Marriot, the event was of first of its own kind for Punjabi media world. Hero of the 1971 Indo-Pak War Brigadier Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri, BSF Constables Shamlal and Baljinder Singh, Inspector Kuldeep Singh of Chandigarh Police was honoured with Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman for their commendable services. Apart from them, family members of Martyr Lt. Navdeep Singh, Martyr Sq. Leader Anil Sharma and Martyr ASI Gurdial Singh of Punjab Police were also felicitated with 'Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman'.

Flying Sikh Milkha Singh was honoured with Lifetime Contribution Honours on the occasion for his excellence in the field of Sports. "I feel too old to attend ceremonies and functions now, but couldn't say no to Zee Punjabi officials" says Milkha Singh who was admitted to a Hospital in Gurgaon for a serious ailments a few days ago "since the cause is great for which the honours are instituted by the channel and I felt such efforts should always be encouraged in the interest of generations to come, so that they too draw inspiration to achieve excellence in their professions" he concluded.

Welcoming the guests on occasion, Mr. Barun Das, CEO, Zee News Limited said, "Understanding our responsibility towards the countrymen, as the Fourth estate,  this initiative was launched four years ago in Delhi by Zee News and ever since Network channels have been annually holding 'Ananya Samman' through national and regional editions to honour the real heroes of society".

'Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman' is another link in the chain of the same tradition which acknowledges the unparallel Contribution of Punjabis in every sphere of life” he concluded. In his thanksgiving, Sanjay Vohra, Editor, Zee Punjabi, mentioned "Zee Punjabi didn't honour our heroes rather, these heroes have honoured us by marking their presence here."

"Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman is commendable initiative and such efforts should always be there to honour martyrs and heroes of the nation." This was stated by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ms Ambika Soni, present on the occasion as a Chief Guest.

'Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman' is instituted in order to honour the Punjabi martyrs and real heroes who have rendered commendable services for the nation.

"It's a great initiative by Zee Punjabi to honour the real heroes of the society. I am all praise for it and feel really honoured” says much celebrated and popular Singer, lyricist, composer and actor Gurdas Maan after receiving 'Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman'.

Creater of Rock Garden Nek Chand and Environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal were also honoured for their outstanding contribution.

The leaders from various political parties also marked their presence on the occasion leaving behind their political differences. Captain Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab, urged Sant Seechewal to come forward for a joint movement to control the toxicant water which is creating threat for mass cancer for the Malwa region. Present on the occasion, Former Central Minister for Sports and Member of Rajya Sabha from Shiromani Akali Dal, Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa also felt the need of such events and appreciating the efforts he said "I congratulate Zee Punjabi to be the first channel in the league to institute 'Anhad Sanman' and hope it will show the way to others as well".

The Chandigarh Police Band added the flavour of patriotism with their various ear soothing melodies.  Also present on the occasion were Member of Parliament from Bhartiya Janta Party Avinash Rai Khanna, General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Congress MLAs Tej Prakash, Sunil Jakhar and others.

'Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman', the event will be telecast at 8.30 PM on 15th of November 2011 on Zee Punjabi.
