Zee Studios scores a hat trick at IFFI, Goa with 'Katyar Kaljat Ghusali'
Katyar Kaljat Ghusali, the first Marathi film to be presented under the flagship banner of Zee Studios, has been selected officially to be screened at the 46th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) this year which will be held from 20th to 30th November in Goa. With Katyar Kaljat Ghusali, Zee Studios has scored a hat-trick of films to be officially screened at IFFI.
After breaking successive box office records with its three thunderous hits Duniyadari, Timepass & Lai Bhaari and shaking the tough ground of Bollywood in Maharashtra, Zee Studios enters into the much coveted Film Festival circuit with Katyar Kaljat Ghusali. The film has made its entry into the 'Official Selection' of the much respected film festival of India. The director of the film, Subodh Bhave is overjoyed to share this extremely proud moment with Zee Studios and the whole team.
Festival accolade is not new for Zee Studios, as last year, Essel's films Elizabeth Ekadashi, Dr. Prakash Baba Amte, Lokmanya Ek Yugpurush and Killa had made an official entry into the festival. In 2013, the film Fandry directed by Nagraj Manjule made its presence felt at all major national & international film festivals and won coveted awards like - Grand Jury Prize & Special Mention at MAMI, 5 Awards at PIFF and 2 National Awards. With this, Essel Vision has struck a fine balance between commercial success and critical acclaim, an aim the company had put its best foot forward with.
Katyar is an adaptation of legendary Marathi musical play Katyar Kaljat Ghusali penned by the legendary writer Purushottam Darwhekar. The film tells the story of the tussle between two classical gharaanas of music. This film will also mark the debut of Shankar Mahadevan as an actor; he will be essaying the character of Pandit Bhanushankar Shastri. Shankar will have the company of eminent actor Sachin Pilgaonkar who will be portraying the character of Khansaheb.
Shankar Ehsaan Loy, who is working for the first time in a Marathi film have revisited the original songs by Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki as well composed new tunes for the film.

The movie will release all over Maharashtra on November 12, 2015.
